Shipping Charges

Domestic:

For U.S. orders, our preferred shipping method is US Postal Priority Mail.  Service is generally 2-3 days to anywhere in the USA.  You will be offered the choice of upgrading to Express Mail.  We do not offer "parcel post" shipping because (1.) It takes FOREVER! and (2.) It often only costs a few cents less than priority.  In addition, we ship all orders with insurance.  This protects your investment if a shipment is lost.  Experience has also shown us that orders are less likely to get "lost" (more like "stolen") if they have that insurance tag.  Our goal is to make sure that you get your order in perfect condition, and as quickly as possible.  Here's an example of how the cost breaks down: (keep in mind that we do NOT have a "minimum order requirement")

$5.15 - Base rate for USPS Priority Mail at the sample order's shipping weight.
$2.25 - Insured for $88
$2.00 - Handling charge (this covers the packaging materials, fuel, and time)

Total: $9.40

Actual totals will vary, of course - but that gives you a pretty good idea of the cost breakdown.  We are NOT trying to make extra money on shipping.  But, we have to at least break even.   If you place an order, and you feel that the shipping charge is too high, please don't hesitate to let us know. (email is best, generally)  sales@area51tubeaudiodesigns.com  We use an automated system to calculate shipping charges, and although it does a great job, it's not perfect. 

It should also be noted that we don't mess around when it comes to packaging.  Your order will arrive to you in perfect condition - every time.  We use quality shipping materials and boxes - boxes are double-walled and have a rating of AT LEAST 200lb test.  Fragile items like tubes and coils are double packaged.

International Orders

We've been shipping orders all over the world since the very beginning.  I've found that the best method for shipping to most countries is the USPS Priority International option.  The service is generally fast - 6-10 days.  Insurance is included in your shipping fee.   Express Mail international is also available.  It costs more, but is a bit faster - 4-6 days.  None of these services are cheap, but they PALE in comparison to UPS or Federal Express.  I've found the USPS to be the best thing going, price-wise.

For smaller orders, such as electronic components, our wah mod kits, and other smaller items - you now have the option to use Priority flat-rate, which is $18 to most destinations.  The option will not show up in the shipping choices drop-down menu when ordering online, so contact me (Dan) via email sales@area51tubeaudiodesigns.com  and I will process your order personally and send you a paypal invoice.
